2 Killed in Crash on Interstate 5 Freeway in Anderson
ANDERSON, Calif. (Dec. 1, 2022) — Lisa Joann Bacon, 46, of Orland, died Thanksgiving Day when she was struck by a car on the Interstate 5 Freeway after stopping to help a motorcyclist who hit a deer and crashed.
The collision occurred about 5:35 p.m. on Nov. 24th, just south of Balls Ferry Road and Redding, according to a report by the Record Searchlight.
Both Lisa Bacon and the motorcyclist, Brian Alan Ford, 55, of Redding, died in the traffic collision.
Initially, Brian Ford was riding his motorcycle when he apparently struck a deer in the northbound lanes of the Interstate 5. Lisa Bacon came upon the collision and stopped to help him. Meanwhile, a man driving a 2018 Toyota Camry failed to notice the two people in the roadway and crashed into both of them.
The man and woman both died at the crash scene. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office later identified the two victims.
Police do not suspect drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the collision, the CHP said.
Witnesses are asked to call the CHP at 530-225-0500.
