2-Vehicle Crash on Redwood Highway 101 at Covelo Road
Mendocino County, Calif. (Jan. 20, 2022) — A major injury crash on Highway 101 happened Thursday afternoon near Covelo Road (State Route 162) in Longvale, Mendocino County.
The CHP initially reported a white Dodge Ram pickup truck and a small white sedan collided on Redwood Highway 101 about 12:38 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Police reported one of the vehicles T-boned the other vehicle, just north of the Moss Cove Rest Area. Later the report mentioned the vehicles were a white car and a Toyota Prius.
Paramedics and firefighters responded to the scene due to major injuries reported by both drivers. The two drivers were transported by ambulances to hospitals.
Also, tow trucks responded to remove the damaged vehicles from the crash scene located between the cities of Laytonville and Willits.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash at the Longvale intersection.
