Fatal Pedestrian Accident at Ramon Road Near Canyon Vista Road
CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. (Sept. 6, 2022) — Two vehicles struck and killed Martin Marquez, 53, of Palm Springs, in Cathedral City on Sunday at the intersection of Ramon Road near Canyon Vista Road.
The deadly crash occurred about 6 a.m. on Sept. 4th, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
Cathedral City Police Department and paramedics with the Cathedral City Fire Department both responded to the crash scene near the intersection about 6 a.m., but sadly, the Palm Springs man died at 6:07 a.m., the coroner report said.
Police say the first vehicle was heading eastbound on Ramon Road when the pedestrian allegedly crossed the street outside of a crosswalk. The driver struck the man and then stopped and called for help.
The first driver also witnessed the second motorist hit Martin Marquez, but that drive drove off without stopping to help. Meanwhile, the first driver remained at the crash scene and cooperated with authorities.
Meanwhile, the hit-and-run driver in a light gray or silver SUV remains at large.
