2 Killed, 1 Hurt in Chico Crash at 5th Avenue and Neal Dow Avenue
CHICO, Calif. (January 31, 2022) – Matthew Moen, 31, was arrested following a suspected DUI crash that killed two people and seriously injured a third person Sunday night at 5th Avenue and Neal Dow Avenue in Chico.
Police arrested the driver on two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, according to a news report by Action News Now.
Matthew Moen is being held in lieu of $300,000 bail. The deadly crash happened just before 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 30th, the report said.
Two vehicles collided for an unknown reason at the intersection of E. Fifth Avenue and Neal Dow Avenue.
Also, one of the cars slammed into the house on the corner. Firefighters and paramedics responded to scene to help all those involved.
Sadly, two people suffered major injuries and died at the scene. A third person had major injuries.
Paramedics transported the third person to a hospital for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police forced the area of 5th and Neal Dow avenues to shut down for a time after the wreck.
