Pickup Truck Driver Killed; Bus Driver Hurt in Crash on River Road
SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 8, 2021) — Michael Hien suffered minor injuries in a collision Thursday between the Sonoma County transit bus he was driving and a pickup truck in front of Korbel Champagne Cellars on River Road.
The two-vehicle collision happened about 11:56 a.m. on Oct. 7th in Guerneville in Sonoma County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The westbound transit bus reportedly crashed into the right side of an eastbound Toyota Tacoma pickup truck near the main entrance to the winery and just west of Odd Fellows Park Road. The pickup truck reportedly crossed in front of the bus.
Man Killed in Bus Accident on River Road
The pickup truck driver was ejected during the collision and died at the scene. Authorities did not release the man’s name.
Meanwhile, paramedics took Michael Hein, 26, of Sebastopol, to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The fatal crash blocked the westbound lane of the roadway. Police diverted traffic to Odd Fellows Park Road.
Investigators will seek to determine liability for the collision.
