Multi-Vehicle Accident Costa Mesa 55 Freeway, State Route 73

Three Car Crash on State Route 55, Unknown Injury

COSTA MESA, Calif. (May 8, 2024) — A multi-vehicle car accident happened Wednesday morning on the Costa Mesa 55 Freeway, near State Route 73.

The traffic accident occurred at around 11:48 am on May 8th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The vehicles involved in the collision were a silver Acura, along with a white Honda Fit, and a grey SUV. All these vehicles were reported to be blocking the slow lane of the freeway. In addition to these three vehicles, a pick up truck was also reported to be stopped in the right lane.

Paramedics responded and located at least one person with an undisclosed injury. It was unknown if the passenger involved in the scene was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the accident on the Costa Mesa 55 Freeway.
