Bicyclist Hurt in Car Crash on Lincoln Avenue in North Park
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, California (May 24, 2021) – A North Park bicycle accident left a 64-year-old man with serious injuries.
The man was riding an electric bicycle on Lincoln Avenue when he crashed into the side of a pickup truck.
The pickup reportedly pulled out in front of him as he rode through the North Park neighborhood, San Diego police said.
The crash happened about 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 23rd between Hamilton and Arizona streets.
North Park Bicycle Accident
The 29-year-old man driving the involved 2014 GMC Sierra pickup was driving northbound through an alley located between Hamilton and Arizona streets. He allegedly stopped before driving across Lincoln Avenue, however, pulled out in front of the man riding the electric bicycle. That’s when the bike crashed into the side of the vehicle. The bike had been heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of Lincoln Avenue, police said.
Paramedics responded and rushed the injured bicyclist to a hospital for treatment. The man fractured his right ankle in the collision.
Police will investigate the cause of the North Park bicycle accident and liability.
