Motorcyclist Injured in Crash on I-80 Freeway Near Bridge
OAKLAND, Calif. (Feb. 15, 2022) — An Oakland motorcycle crash happened Tuesday on the Interstate 80 Freeway near the Bay Bridge Toll Plaza.
The crash happened in the westbound lanes about 7:29 a.m. on Feb. 15th near the Maritime Street off ramp and the San Francisco, Oakland Bay Bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a motorcyclist went down in the No. 1 lane when they were hit by a driver in a black Chevrolet Tahoe SUV. A witness told authorities the black Tahoe with a pink border around the license plate allegedly merged into the motorcycle rider causing the collision. A black Jeep may have also been involved.
Firefighters with the Oakland Fire Department responded to help the injured rider, but it’s unknown if they transported the person to a hospital or not.
Meanwhile, investigators are working on the case and will determine fault.
Tow trucks removed damaged vehicles and the roadway was clear by 8:06 a.m.
