2 Teens Injured in Solo Crash at Oxnard Intersection
OAKLAND, Calif. (June 10, 2022) — Two teens were critically injured in a solo-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at Pleasant Valley Road and Longfellow Way in south Oxnard.
The crash happened around 4:50 p.m. at the Oxnard intersection. just west of Rose Avenue, according to the Oxnard Police Department.
The Oxnard Police Department responded to the scene and located wo teens who are both 17-year-old males. The teen from Port Hueneme was driving the 1997 Honda Accord and the passenger is from Oxnard, officials said.
The two were riding in the Honda westbound on Pleasant Valley Road. The driver lost control just east of Longfellow due to unknown reasons. The car reportedly hit a block wall and a palm tree on the north side of the road, police said.
Both teens became trapped in the car and had to be extricated by arriving Oxnard firefighters.
Paramedics transported both teens by ambulance to Ventura County Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
Investigators closed westbound Pleasant Valley at Terrace Avenue to conduct an investigation.
Police are looking into whether or not speed, alcohol or drugs were factors leading to the collision.
