 Pit Bull Dogs Attack, Kill Man in Compton on Thorson Avenue

Man Mauled to Death by Dogs in Compton

COMPTON, Calif. (Feb. 16, 2024) — A fatal attack on a 35-year-old man by multiple Pit Bull dogs was reported Friday morning in the backyard of a home on Thorson Avenue in Compton.

The victim was mauled to death by the group of dogs last night around 8 p.m. and authorities responded at around 7 a.m. on Feb. 16th, according to KTLA 5 News. There were 13 dogs in the backyard including a litter of puppies.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to the residence in the 900 block of Thorson Avenue, just south of Rosecrans Avenue. A woman who was at the residence told authorities the man was her boyfriend.

The dogs were in a fenced backyard of the home where there were several kennels. The man was apparently feeding the dogs when they began fighting and turned on the man. It’s unknown at this time if the victim was a visitor to the home or a resident. The victim’s identity was not released at this time.

The case remains under investigation and it’s unknown if any charges will be filed or if the dogs will be euthanized.
