
Semi vs. Car Collision on 118 Freeway
Ventura, CA (May 13, 2023) – Two people suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on the Interstate 118 Freeway Tuesday evening, May 9.
The KTLA5 News reported a semi truck and a 2007 Lexus LS collided head-on on I-118 near Mesa School Road. Preliminary investigation revealed Russell James Young Jr., of Santa Barbara, was behind the wheel of the Lexus. On the other hand, Aldo Jose Desantiago, of Tarzana, was driving the truck heading east on the freeway. For reasons still unclear, one motorist veered into the opposite lane, leading to the head-on crash.
Major Injury Car Accident in Ventura
Shortly after 5:30 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the location and found Young trapped in the mangled car. Responding firefighters worked extensively to free the victim. After the successful extrication process, a helicopter airlifted Russell James Young Jr. to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
Authorities added the truck driver ended up lying down in a dirt road south of the freeway. Good Samaritans rendered aid to Aldo Jose Desantiago until paramedics arrived. Subsequently, an ambulance transferred the second patient with moderate injuries to Los Robles Regional Medical Center.
At this time, detectives continue to gather information to determine the precise cause of the traffic accident that happened on Interstate 118 Freeway in Ventura.
