One Dead, One Injured in Crash on San Felipe Road
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Nov. 28, 2022) — A 22-year-old San Jose man died and another man suffered injuries Saturday afternoon in a solo-vehicle crash at San Felipe Road and Metcalf Road.
The crash occurred about 3:40 p.m. on Nov. 26th when the younger man driving a 2023 Tesla went off the roadway and slammed into two trees, according to the CHP and East Bay Times.
It’s unknown at this time what led to the crash, but investigators are looking into whether speed was a factor.
The 22-year-old San Jose man died at the scene after being ejected from the vehicle.
Additionally, a 24-year-old man riding as a passenger in the car survived and was able to climb out of the vehicle. Paramedics transported the man to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Meanwhile, investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash. No word yet as to whether the Tesla Auto Pilot feature was being used. Indeed, Tesla is first on the list of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) collisions after 273 crashes, three with serious injuries and five deaths, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The crash remains under investigation.
