Two Injured in 3-Vehicle Collision in San Marcos
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. (April 22, 2024) — At least three people were injured in a crash involving a wrong-way driver Sunday night on South Santa Fe Avenue in San Marcos.
The driver reportedly crashed into two vehicles at around 8 p.m. on April 22nd, according to the Times of San Diego.
Three people including the wrong-way motorist suffered serious injuries in the traffic accident, just east of Las Flores Drive near North Rancho Santa Fe Road.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene where a blue Honda SUV reportedly driving in the wrong direction collided with a red Honda SUV and a white Toyota sedan.
Witnesses called 911 to report seeing the driver traveling in the wrong direction prior to the collision.
3 Adults, Infant Transported to Hospitals
Paramedics responded and located a 24-year-old man, a 22-year-old woman and their infant child in the red Honda. The adults were treated at Palomar Medical Center for serious non-life-threatening injuries and their baby was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital for evaluation.
Meanwhile, the 46-year-old driver of the Toyota was released at the scene after paramedics confirmed they had no injuries.
However, the wrong-way driver in the Honda SUV had major injuries and was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, but is expected to survive.
Finally, the case remains under investigation by the San Diego Sheriff’s Department to determine whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
