Woman Struck, Killed Walking on Freeway On-ramp
SAN PABLO, Calif. (Jan. 3, 2022) — A fatal San Pablo pedestrian accident happened early Monday morning on the El Portal Drive on ramp to the westbound Interstate 80 Freeway.
The deadly collision happened about 2:55 a.m. on Jan. 3rd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The woman was reportedly walking across the freeway on ramp when a driver in a Ford F-150 pickup truck struck the victim, according to a report by East Bay Times.
The driver stopped and managed to get the woman into his truck. The driver began to take the woman to a hospital, but unfortunately she died in transit and the motorist stopped at 12th Street and Barrett Avenue in Richmond to call for help.
Additionally, authorities say the driver is cooperating with investigators and that drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the San Pablo pedestrian accident.
