Fatal Head-on Crash on Highway 299 in Shasta
SHASTA, Calif. (August 18, 2022) — A head-on crash involving a big rig truck happened Thursday on State Route Highway 299 at Kennedy Memorial Road.
At least one person is dead after a collision about 11:55 a.m. on August 18th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a red Ford Explorer collided with a big rig truck in a fiery crash.
The truck reportedly caught on fire and it spread to vegetation on a nearby hillside, police said.
Meanwhile, paramedics responded with firefighters to help extinguish the fully-engulfed fire in the truck.
There are no further details about the collision, but at least one person died in the collision.
Additionally, police requested a long-term road closure due to the crash and fire.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the Shasta crash on Highway 299.
