Woman Killed, Man Injured in Pedestrian Accident
FRESNO, Calif. (May 7, 2024) – Shaylee Henry, 31, of Fresno, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident Friday night near Cary Park and Fashion Fair Mall.
The Fresno Police Department reported a driver fleeing police struck two bystanders who were behind the backstop in a baseball field at the park, according to Your Central Valley News.

Prior to the collision, police officers attempted to make a traffic stop at around 8:15 p.m. near First Street and Gettysburg Avenue. However, the suspect did not cooperate and a short high-speed pursuit began and was called off by a supervisor as the vehicle was traveling westbound on Santa Ana Avenue.
The suspect entered Cary Park and the vehicle jumped the curb and hit the man and woman who were standing behind the backstop of a baseball field.
Authorities say Shaylee Henry suffered fatal injuries and the man was critically injured and hospitalized.
Meanwhile, the driver took off and drove through the parking lot before exiting into a neighborhood near Fashion Fair Mall. Eventually, the vehicle crashed near Fairmont Avenue and Thesta Street, but the suspects fled on foot.
Detectives are working to locate the suspects and the investigation is ongoing.
