Three People Killed, Two Hurt in Santa Clarita Crash
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (August 29, 2022) – Spencer Thomas, 28, of Santa Clarita, Shane Rivera, 41, of Glendale, and a third person died Sunday in a fiery crash on San Francisquito Canyon Road in Santa Clarita.
Two others from the vehicles suffered major injuries in the crash.
It happened about 4:10 p.m. on Sunday, August 28th, in front of 29889 San Francisquito Canyon Road near Riverview Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Police are investigating whether the driver of a white BMW crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided with an older model blue Chevrolet Suburban. Spencer Thomas was apparently driving the Suburban and had a female passenger who was one of the two people hurt in the crash, KTLA reported.
Shane Rivera was one of the two people from the BMW who died in the crash. A third person from the BMW survived with major injuries in the crash.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and transported two people to Henry Mayo Hospital, according to NBC Los Angeles.
Also, firefighters extinguished a fire in one of the vehicles following the crash.
Finally, liability for the collision remains under investigation.
