HEMET, Calif. (Dec. 12, 2022) — Steven Kniffen, 59, of Hemet, died and another person was injured in a crash at Minto Way and Sage Road, just south of Hemet.
The fatal crash occurred about 3:50 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9th, according to the California Highway Patrol and The Patch.
The two people were traveling together in a Lincoln Navigator. The driver reportedly lost control due to unknown circumstances and the SUV overturned on Minto Way.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department sent paramedics and firefighter crews to the scene and they reported two people were trapped inside the SUV.
Sadly, Steven Kniffen suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:22 p.m., according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The second person in the SUV suffered major injuries in the crash. Paramedics transported the person by ambulance to a regional trauma center for further treatment. The reports do not mention the person’s name, age or gender.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
