Multi-Vehicle Crash Closes Northbound 170 Freeway in Sun Valley Area
SUN VALLEY, Calif. (August 31, 2021) — A multi-vehicle Sun Valley car accident happened Tuesday morning on the Hollywood (170) Freeway near Rosco Boulevard.
Several people were injured in the 5:30 a.m. chain-reaction crash involving eight to 10 vehicles on the northbound Hollywood (170) Freeway.
Also, the crash happened near Roscoe Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. A driver in a white Nissan SUV reportedly set off the chain-reaction crash and continued on to Branford Street and Arleta Avenue to collide with yet more vehicles.
Two pickup trucks overturned and one person was trapped in one of them. One was on its side and the other was resting on a G rail.
Additionally, a white Honda CRV was facing the wrong way and partially blocking the slow lanes. Multiple other vehicles collided at the scene.
LAFD Responds to Chain-Reaction Sun Valley Car Accident
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to help those injured in the collision. However, the severity of the injuries is not immediately known.
Also, tow trucks responded to remove many of the damaged vehicles.
Meanwhile, police closed down the northbound lanes of the freeway between Roscoe Boulevard and Sheldon Street.
Investigators seek to determine the cause of the crash and liability.
