Truck Hits School Bus on State Route Highway 86
THERMAL, Calif. (Sept. 24, 2021) — A Thermal school bus accident involving a big rig truck happened Friday on Highway 86.
A semi-truck crashed into a school bus on the southbound State Route 86 near 62nd Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Thermal school bus accident happened about 6:22 a.m. on Sept. 24th, the CHP said. The report does not mention what led up to the Thermal collision at this time.
The truck, which was carrying 20,000 pounds , became stuck in the center divider.
Meanwhile, paramedics with CAL Fire Riverside responded to treat anyone hurt in the collision. It’s unknown if any students were aboard the school bus at this time. Also, the report did not say if the truck driver was injured.
The CHP is heading up an investigation into liability for the Thermal school bus accident.
