1 Killed, 2 Injured in Crash at Gardena Intersection
GARDENA, Calif. (March 22, 2023) –Tomas Ramirez Pedro, 49, died and two others suffered injuries early Friday in a two-vehicle Gardena crash at Rosecrans and Vermont avenues.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified him on its website.
The high-speed crash took place around 3 a.m. on March 17th, according to the Gardena Police Department.
Gardena police responded to the crash scene and located three victims from two vehicles, according to KCAL News. Also, police noted there was major collision damage to both vehicles and they were found in the center median of Vermont Avenue.
Witnesses told investigators that one of the two vehicles involved was traveling at a high rate of speed and apparently ran a red light prior to the crash.
Tomas Ramirez Pedro was reportedly driving southbound in a Honda and another motorist in a Volkswagen was heading eastbound on Rosecrans Avenue. He suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, there was two other people who suffered injuries in the crash. They were transported by ambulances to a hospital. It’s unknown which vehicle or vehicles they were riding in.
Authorities closed down all southbound lanes of Vermont Avenue for several hours to investigate.
