Tony Morena Arrested Fatal Hit-and-run Crash on Paradise Valley Road

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 15, 2023) — Tony Morena, 53, was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run after a crash that killed two people and injured two others on Paradise Valley Road.

The deadly crash occurred around 2:25 a.m. on Sunday, May 14th, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.

A driver in Honda Civic with three passengers was traveling westbound on Paradise Valley Road. The car turned left turn onto Munda Road in front of an eastbound Ford F-150 pickup truck and the two vehicles collided.

The truck driver, identified as Tony Morena, reportedly left the scene without stopping to help the three women and one man in the car.

Paramedics responded and rushed two female passengers from the Honda Civic ages 23 and 25 to a hospital where they later died. The 22-year-old woman driving the Honda suffered serious injuries.

Police used the Jaws of Life to remove the roof of the car to free her from the vehicle.

Also, 25-year-old man riding in the Honda suffered pain, but was not taken to a hospital, police said.

A few hours after the crash, Tony Morena went to the San Diego Police Department’s Western Division station in the Morena area. He was booked into jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run charges.

Witnesses may contact the Police Department at (858) 495-7861.
