Box Truck, Van Crash on I-880 Freeway in Union City
UNION CITY, Calif. (Oct. 8, 2021) — A major injury Union City car accident happened Friday on the Interstate 880 Freeway at Whipple Road.
The collision happened in the fast lane about 1:21 p.m. on Oct. 8th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of a large Aramark box truck and a silver 2006 Toyota Sienna minivan collided due to unknown circumstances, just north of Whipple Road.
A man from one of the vehicles was “bleeding from the face and required an ambulance,” the CHP reports. It’s unknown if others were hurt in the crash.
Paramedics responded and rushed at least one person with major injuries to a hospital.
Police issued a SigAlert at 1:41 p.m. for the southbound lanes of the I-880 Freeway.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the Union City car accident. Witnesses may contact the CHP.
