Pedestrian Struck by Four Vehicles, Killed, in South LA Hit-and-Runs
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 5, 2021) — A Vermont-Knolls fatal pedestrian accident involving four hit-and-run motorists happened Sunday night on Normandie Avenue at 83rd Place.
The first driver was reportedly speeding southbound on Normandie when they struck the victim about 8:30 p.m. on April 4th, according to the South Traffic Division of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Subsequently, three more drivers struck the victim in the roadway and fled the crash scene, police said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The man who died will be identified after his family is notified of the collision.
Police say the pedestrian was crossing Normandie Avenue in a westbound direction at the time of the collision. There is no crosswalk at 83rd Place where the crash apparently happened. However, there is a marked crosswalk and traffic lights nearby at West 83rd Street.
The driver failed to stop and instead accelerated and drove off after the Vermont-Knolls pedestrian accident.
Meanwhile, three other vehicles also traveling southbound struck the pedestrian in the roadway and also fled.
