Motorcycle Crash State Route 1 in Watsonville
WATSONVILLE, Calif. (Nov. 19, 2021) — A Watsonville motorcycle accident happened on state Route 1 (Cabrillo Highway) Friday morning near the Buena Vista Drive off ramp.
The traffic accident happened about 9:03 a.m. on Nov. 19th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the 20-year-old Watsonville man riding a 2022 BMW motorcycle went down in the middle lane after a collision with a 2014 Mercedes on northbound SR-1 with at least one other driver. The motorcyclist suffered a laceration to their left knee, road rash to both feet and a broken right leg. Paramedics responded to the scene to transport the man to Natividad Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

One of two cars involved in the collision fled the scene without stopping to help the injured motorcyclist or exchange information, the CHP report said.
Meanwhile, a driver in a Mercedes involved in the crash stopped. The vehicle had major rear-end damage, but the Salinas woman driving the car was uninjured.
Tow trucks also responded to remove both the car and motorcycle from the freeway.
Finally, investigators seek to determine fault for the Torrance motorcycle accident.
