3 Killed, 7 Injured in Winnetka Crash on West Vanowen Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 3, 2022) – A car crash killed and injured several people on West Vanowen Street in Winnetka.
According to the KTLA News and ABC 7 News, the tragic accident took place on Sunday night. Officers reported at about 9 p.m.
UPDATE: Three young men killed in crash on Vanowen Street identified
The incident began a black Ford Explorer was traveling at about 65 or 70 mph east on Vanowen Street in the Winnetka neighborhood. The Ford spun out of control as it passed through a dip at Corbin Avenue.
Los Angeles police said in the process, the speeding driver slammed into a Toyota Tacoma. The Explorer rolled over and then struck an Audi in the 19700 block West Vanowen Street.
Speeding Driver Hits Cars
Three men riding the Ford ended up ejected from their car due to the impact of the collision. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and soon pronounced them dead at the scene.
The fourth occupant survived the accident with minor injuries. The four people riding the Tacoma sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident.
Two more victims, a pregnant woman and her husband, ended up hurt upon impact. Medical personnel rushed the patients to hospitals for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released. Meanwhile, police forced a stretch of Vanowen Street to shut down for hours following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Winnetka crash is still under investigation.
