Two Women Changing Flat Tire Struck on SR-52
LA JOLLA, Calif. (Dec. 29, 2021) – A driver struck two women changing a flat tire in a car accident on eastbound state Route 52 in La Jolla.
Both women suffered serious injuries in the 12:15 a.m. collision early Wednesday morning on December 29th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reported the crash near the transition to Interstate 5 Freeway. The women suffered a flat tire on their vehicle due to unknown reasons. They exited the vehicle and attempted to change the flat tire. Meanwhile, CHP officials a driver in an eastbound vehicle appears to have lost control due to the rain-slicked road. The vehicle struck the two women in the roadway.
Paramedics responded and transported the two seriously-injured women to Scripps La Jolla Hospital. Police did not release any further information about their condition at this time.
However, the driver of the involved car stopped and remained at the scene. The motorist cooperated with CHP investigators and did not report any injuries on scene.
There were no other vehicles involved in the La Jolla car accident.
