Azusa Police Officer on Motorcycle Hits Bicyclist in Covina

 Xueqi Li 67, Bicyclist Killed in Covina crash with Azusa Police Motorcycle Officer COVINA, Calif. (Feb. 3, 2022) –  Authorities identified Xueqi Li, 67, as the bicyclist struck and killed Monday night by an Azusa Police Department officer riding a motorcycle in the Covina and the unincorporated Charter Oak area.

The deadly collision happened about 9:10 p.m. at Cienega and Sunflower avenues, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Police are investigating what led up to the motorcycle versus bicycle collision. Both the police officer and Xueqi Li suffered injuries in the crash. Paramedics transported them both to a hospital, but unfortunately the bicyclist later died at the hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol.  The Azusa police officer remains in stable condition with undisclosed injuries from the crash.

Finally, the cause of the fatal bicycle accident and liability is under investigation by the CHP.
