Motorist Hits Two Pedestrians at Red Bluff Intersection
RED BLUFF, Calif. (Sept. 15, 2021) — A fatal Red Bluff pedestrian accident happened Wednesday morning at Luther Road and Airport Boulevard.
UPDATE: Darrin Rasmussen, 51, of Red Bluff, identified as pedestrian who survived the crash on Luther Road and was hospitalized.
The deadly crash happened about 10:23 a.m. on Sept. 15th near the entrance to Meadow Brook Estates, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reported the driver of a silver Chevrolet Silverado struck two pedestrians due to unknown circumstances. There are sidewalks in the area, but no crosswalk on Luther Road. Motorists traveling on Luther Road do not have a stop sign or traffic light, but must yield to pedestrians as required under California law.
At least one of the pedestrian died in the Red Bluff pedestrian accident, but the report did not specify. A second pedestrian, Darrin Rasmussen, was taken to a hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver involved stopped and is cooperating with authorities. The vehicle has been towed for evidence by Hills Tow.
Investigators seek to determine if speed or distractions played a role in the collision.
