Man, 70, Struck by Car on El Cajon Boulevard
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Oct. 7, 2021) — A pedestrian accident on El Cajon Boulevard at 73rd Street happened Wednesday morning in Rolando, San Diego County.
The 70-year-old man suffered major injuries in the collision. Paramedics transported him by ambulance to a hospital with a fractured upper left arm and two broken bones in his lower left leg, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The collision happened about 11:15 a.m. when the man attempted to cross El Cajon Boulevard against a red do-not-cross sign.
A 28-year-old woman was traveling on 73rd Street and made a left-hand turn onto El Cajon Boulevard on a green arrow, the San Diego Union Tribune reports.
That’s when she reportedly struck the pedestrian in the roadway, police said. Someone called 911 for help and paramedics responded to the scene. The man is being treated for broken bones at the hospital and is expected to survive.
The San Diego Police Department’s traffic division is heading up the investigation.
