Two-Vehicle Crash in Hercules on I-80 Freeway, SR-4

HERCULES, Calif. (Jan. 11, 2022) — At least two vehicles collided on the Interstate 80 Freeway when a car entered the westbound lanes of the freeway from State Route 4 in Hercules.

The collision happened in the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes about 5:25 a.m. between at least two vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials report the two cars including a black 2005 Honda Accord became stuck together during the impact.

Also, the vehicles spun around and landed up against the center divider, just west of Highway 4, the report said. Firefighters responded and cut open the vehicle to free those trapped.

Paramedics responded to help at least one person with injuries following the Hercules crash on the Interstate 80 Freeway.

Tow trucks removed the vehicles and the lanes reopened by 6:30 a.m.

Investigators are working to determine liability for the crash on Interstate 80 in Hercules.
