Pedestrian Struck and Killed at Baseline Street Near McKinley Avenue
HIGHLAND, Calif. (August 29, 2022) — Matias Meza, 30, of San Bernardino, died in a pedestrian accident on Baseline Street, just east of McKinley Avenue in Highland, San Bernardino County.
The deadly crash occurred about 11:49 p.m. on Thursday, August 2nd, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. A driver struck the victim as he walked across Baseline Street. Also, the motorist reportedly fled without stopping to help the victim.
Deputies responded to the hit-and-run crash scene on Baseline Street where they located Matias Meza suffering from major injuries in the westbound bicycle lane.
Sadly, the San Bernardino man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Also, investigators with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Highland Station are investigating the cause of the crash and liability.
Meanwhile, police did not release a description of the vehicle and they continue to work on the case.
