Semi-Truck Hits Stalled Car on State Route 91 in Orange County
ANAHEIM, Calif. (March 21, 2023) — A semi-truck crashed into a stalled car on the Riverside 91 Freeway on Tuesday at the Harbor Boulevard off ramp in Anaheim.
The two-vehicle crash occurred on the eastbound State Route 91 about 3:13 a.m. on March 21st, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
A driver in a black or gray Kia Soul reportedly became stalled when an oncoming big rig truck crashed into the vehicle and the truck landed on top of the center divider. The truck was also partially blocking the HOV lane on the westbound side of SR-91, the report said. Both HOV lanes were blocked and police put out flares to guide motorists away from these lanes.
Meanwhile, the Kia wound up on its side and blocking the slow lane of the freeway. Authorities issued a SigAlert for the HOV lanes on both sides of the freeway as well as the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 lanes on the eastbound side of the freeway.
Paramedics with Metro Net Fire Authority responded to help anyone hurt in the collision. At least two people including the truck driver were injured in the crash, but there are no further details.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the Anaheim truck accident on the 91 Freeway.
