Woman Killed in Head-on Collision is Identified
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (April 2, 2024) — Denise Patricia Barreto, 67, of San Diego, died on March 13th in a head-on crash with another motorist on Florida Street in the Balboa Park area of San Diego.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 2:28 p.m. on March 13th, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The San Diego woman was driving a 2009 Subaru Forester SUV southbound on Florida Street. Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man driving northbound in a 2014 Toyota Sienna van reportedly crossed over the double yellow lines and collided into her SUV.
Paramedics responded and rushed Denise Barreto by ambulance to Scripps Mercy Hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Investigators are working on the case, but police do not suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The Traffic Division is asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers.
