2-Vehicle Car Accident in Kern County
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (April 1, 2024) — A fatal crash happened Saturday morning on Highway 178, just west of Doyle Ranch Road in Weldon in Kern County.
The deadly, head-on collision occurred at 10:28 a.m. on March 30th on Highway 178 between Weldon and Onyx, according to the California Highway Patrol and Bakersfield now.
The drivers of an eastbound Subaru and a westbound Toyota were involved. The vehicles collided in the center of the roadway marked by double yellow lines.
Paramedics responded to help four people from the two vehicles with severe injuries.
Unfortunately, the 42-year-old Onyx man driving the Subaru died. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. His passenger and the driver from the Toyota and their passenger were all badly injured and transported to hospitals.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the fatal crash on Highway 178.
