2 Killed in Wrong-Way Driver Collision on I-580 Freeway
TRACY, Calif. (April 1, 2024) — Two people died in a wrong-way driver crash early Sunday on the Interstate 580 Freeway, near Corral Hollow Road and Tracy.
Three others were injured in the collision at around 2 a.m. on March 31st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported an 19-year-old Antioch man driving a silver 2007 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the I-580, near the Corral Hollow Road off ramp, CBS News reports. The Honda collided head-on with an oncoming westbound 2023 Kia Telluride.
Upon impact, the silver Honda overturned onto its side and caught on fire.

The 19-year-old Antioch man was thrown out of the Honda and died at the scene. Also, the 32-year-old Fort Bragg woman driving the Kia was critically injured and transported to San Joaquin General Hospital in nearby French Camp where she later died. Read updated story here.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man, a two-month-old girl and a four-year-old boy who were all riding in the Kia were transported to a San Joaquin General Hospital. The man and toddler were treated for major injuries and the boy had minor injuries.
Police are working on the case and the names of the deceased were not released.
