2 Drivers Killed in Car Accident; Child Critically Injured
PHELAN, Calif. (April 15, 2024) — Two people died and a child was injured in a fatal head-on crash Sunday night on Phelan Road, just east of Tumbleweed Road in Phelan.
The deadly crash occurred at about 8:15 p.m. on April 14, 2024, according to the California Highway Patrol and Victor Valley News Group.
CHP officials reported the drivers of a white 2018 GMC Yukon and a blue 2015 Subaru Forester were involved. Authorities say the 27-year-old Phelan man driving westbound Subaru was hit head-on by a 38-year-old Oak Hills woman in the GMC. The GMC reportedly veered into the path of the Subaru.
Fatal Crash Phelan Road and Tumbleweed Road
Despite efforts by arriving San Bernardino County Fire paramedics, the driver of the Subaru died at the scene.
Meanwhile, firefighters extricated the woman who was trapped in the GMC and she was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries, but died at the hospital.
Additionally, a female child around 3 to 5 years old who was riding in the SUV was critically injured and taken to a hospital.
Furthermore, the identity of the two drivers who died will be released after relatives are notified.
