Motorcyclist Killed in Car Accident on I-580 in Livermore
LIVERMORE, Calif. (April 18, 2024) — A fatal motorcycle accident happened Thursday morning on the westbound Interstate 580 Freeway, just west of North Livermore Avenue in Livermore.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred at around 9:06 a.m. on April 18th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the motorcyclist collided with a white Mercedes SUV due to unknown circumstances and went down in the No. 3 lane of the I-580. Two big rig trucks were also stopped, but it’s unknown at this time if they were involved.
The unidentified motorcycle rider suffered major injuries and died at the scene. The Alameda County Sheriff-Coroner will release the victim’s name after notifying relatives.
Meanwhile, a witness to the crash who was traveling behind the motorcycle rider at the time of the crash offered dash camera video footage to investigators.
Police issued a SigAlert due to multiple traffic lanes being blocked by vehicles and emergency responders.
Investigators will piece together what happened to determine fault.
