
Man Struck, Killed Crossing Highway 99 in Modesto
MODESTO, Calif. (April 17, 2024) — A man pushing a bicycle died in a pedestrian accident Tuesday afternoon on Highway 99 near the Crows Landing Road off ramp in Modesto.
The traffic accident occurred at around 3:33 p.m. on April 16th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a driver in a Volvo struck the man and his bicycle when he allegedly ran out in front of the car in the northbound lanes of Highway 99.
The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was taken to a hospital where he later died following the accident on Highway 99, the report said.
Meanwhile, the Volvo driver stopped near the center divider and authorities requested a tow truck.
Also, police closed down traffic lanes to conduct an investigation into what happened and determine fault for the crash.
