Man Killed, 4 Hurt in 71 Freeway Crash
POMONA, Calif. (July 5, 2023) – An innocent man died and four people were injured in a fatal Pomona crash involving a suspected DUI driver on the Chino Valley (71) Freeway at Rio Rancho Road.
The 3-vehicle collision occurred around 10 p.m. on July 2nd in the southbound and northbound lanes of the 71 Freeway, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
An alleged drunken driver reportedly clipped a tow truck, causing it to cross over the center divider and crash head-on into an oncoming minivan. A man in the minivan suffered fatal injuries and two children and two adults were injured in the crash, according to the Pomona Police Department.
Authorities closed down the Chino Valley Freeway between Mission Boulevard and Rio Rancho Road, according to the report.
The fatal crash on the 71 Freeway remains under investigation.
