Fatal Crash at Vista Del Mar and W Imperial Highway
PLAYA DEL REY, Calif. (March 23, 2022) — Jay LaPlante, 48, of Manhattan Beach, died Monday morning in a Playa Del Rey collision with a vehicle at Vista Del Mar and West Imperial Highway.
The two-vehicle traffic accident happened just before 6:15 a.m. at the Playa Del Rey intersection, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The LAPD reported the two vehicles collided on Vista Del Mar when a vehicle allegedly turned left in front of the motorcycle. The motorcyclist went down in the roadway and suffered major injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified the victim as Jay LaPlante.
Meanwhile, the other involved motorist stopped and cooperated with authorities and the crash investigation, the LAPD said.
There are no further details available at this time.
Jay LaPlante was apparently heading to work as a Service Manager at Subaru Pacific. A Go Fund Me page is raising money to help support his family.
