Victorville Man Killed, Driver Arrested on DUI Charges for Fatal Crash
SPRING VALLEY LAKE, Calif. (March 18, 2024) — Nicholas Antoni Slate, 39, of Victorville, died in a pedestrian accident Sunday, March 10th on Kalin Ranch Drive in Victorville.
The deadly crash involved an alleged DUI driver who struck the victim at around 1:04 a.m. in the 18000 block of Kalin Ranch Road in the Spring Valley Lake community.
The Apple Valley woman reportedly struck and killed the Victorville man in this residential neighborhood, just west of Golf Course Drive, according to California Highway Patrol officers.
Nicholas Antoni Slate was reportedly walking along the north side of the road. The driver of a westbound 2015 Chrysler struck the victim while traveling partially in the road and on adjacent private property, the Daily Press said. The driver struck the victim and then a concrete wall. Nicholas Slate died at the crash scene 10 minutes later, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Dept.
Meanwhile, the driver was treated for moderate injuries before being charged with DUI.
Investigators are working on the case and witnesses may contact detectives with the California Highway Patrol Victorville Division.
