Fatal Head-on Crash Victim is Identified as Vista Man, 53
BONSALL, Calif. (April 2, 2024) — Ricardo Becerra, 53, of Vista, died and two were injured in a Bonsall crash Sunday night at Gopher Canyon Road and Hoxie Ranch Road.
The two-vehicle collision occurred on St. Patrick’s Day at around 11:26 p.m. on March 17th, according to the California Highway Patrol report.
CHP officials reported a black Chevrolet pickup truck and a white Toyota Camry were involved in the car accident.
The driver of the eastbound pickup truck reportedly veered into the westbound lane of Gopher Canyon Road and crashed head-on into the Toyota driven by the wife of Ricardo Becerra. He was riding as a passenger in the Toyota.
Paramedics responded and found all three people with injuries and two of them were trapped in one of the vehicles with major injuries. Ricardo Becerra was transported by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center, but he died shortly afterward at 1:03 a.m. on March 18th, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
Finally, investigators closed down the eastbound and westbound lanes of Gopher Canyon Road to conduct an investigation into the Bonsall collision. Also, police are working to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
