Driver Killed in Crash with Wrong-way Driver is Identified
CROCKETT, Calif. (March 23, 2022) — Ruiju Ma, 38, from Vallejo, died Sunday in a crash on the Interstate 80 Freeway when a wrong-way driver allegedly crashed into his Tesla near the Carquinez Bridge.
The suspected wrong-way driver who caused the deadly Crockett collision also died in the crash. She was identified as a missing person last seen in the San Francisco area on Union Street.
Madyson James, 29, was reportedly driving her Honda SUV against traffic on the eastbound I-80 Freeway when she crashed into a Tesla driven by Rjiju Ma near the Carquinez Bridge, according to KTVU.
Both motorists died in the crash. The Contra Costa County coroner’s office identified them after notifying family members.
The two vehicles became engulfed in flames and the man and woman died on scene.
The circumstances leading up to the crash are under investigation by the Contra Costa County CHP.
