Two Killed, 3 Hurt in Crash on Torrey Pines State Beach (UPDATED)
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (April 26, 2022) – Two teens died, three others were injured in a solo-vehicle crash Monday night on North Torrey Pines Road at the state beach.
The deadly, crash happened about 11 p.m. on April 25th, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
A 19-year-old man driving a 2020 Subaru WRX carrying four passengers went off the roadway. The driver of the vehicle was reportedly speeding and its driver lost control before it crashed into a center median, hit a guardrail and overturned on Torrey Pines State Beach. Two teens died and three others suffered injuries. There were three 19-year-olds and two 18-year-olds in the vehicle.
Police stated the vehicle “went over the ledge, struck multiple rocks, and came to rest on the beach.”
Passenger Killed in Crash is Identified
Joshua Adonai Manzanares, 19, of Lake Elsinore, is one of the two passengers who died in the collision. The second victim’s name will be released after family members are notified.
Meanwhile, two other passengers in the vehicle survived with serious injuries. San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded and transported the injured to a hospital for treatment of a pelvic/hip fracture, lung contusion, and a fractured ankle.
The driver suffered minor injuries and police are looking into whether alcohol and or drugs were a factor.
Investigators are working on the case.
