Deadly Crash in Pinole on I-80 Freeway Amid Fog
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. (Nov. 15, 2021) — A fatal Pinole crash on the Interstate 80 Freeway at Pinole Valley Road happened early Monday morning in Contra Costa County.

The crash happened amid heavy fog about 12:04 a.m. on Nov. 15th, according to the California Highway Patrol. The drivers involved included a gray Hyundai Genesis and a silver Saturn. The Saturn suffered major rear-end damage in the collision.
One person in the Hyundai died at the scene and another person in the vehicle became trapped in the wreckage.
Also, a witness told CHP officials that a person was seen running from the crash site, but foggy conditions made it difficult for them to provide a description.
Authorities requested the coroner’s van respond at 12:40 a.m. Two trucks removed damaged vehicles and cleared debris scattered in traffic lanes.
There are no further details about the fatal Pinole crash.
