Pedestrian Killed on Pomona Freeway Identified
SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. (March 23, 2022) – Jacob Gilbert, 31, died in a pedestrian accident early Monday on the Pomona (60) Freeway in South El Monte.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office identified the victim as the person who died in the crash.
The South El Monte crash occurred at 2:45 a.m. Monday, March 21st on the eastbound side of the freeway near Santa Anita Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
An eastbound 2016 Toyota RAV4 struck Jacob Gilbert in the No. 1 lane on the freeway. He suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the injured driver, Yolanda Vick, 50, of Hemet, to a hospital, the CHP reported.
According to the CHP, Vick was driving a 2016 Toyota RAV4 east in the No. 1 lane when the crash occurred.
Authorities say the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and it was dark at the time of the crash. The motorist told authorities she did not see the pedestrian and crashed into him.
